Zooom - An intergalactical region event
The weather of 5th July certainly didn't mar the atmosphere at this years Regional extravaganza. Zooom certainly took the Brownies and Guides out to Space with lots of fun, games and entertainment, as well as a bit of a challenge! Girls got to enjoy a whole host of activities from Bouncy Castles to Space hoppers, circus skills to circus performances, street acts to staged acts and all culminating in a spectacular parade involving many of the girls.
One of the highlights of the day was the performances given by the Cirque Bijou in the big top. From gymnastics to unicycles they stunned their audiences with 3 main shows dotted throughout the day depicting the story of 8 brownies travelling to space and landing on planet Zooom and their adventures on this planet with 'aliens'.

Brownies Brownsea takeover
As part of the Big Brownie Birthday celebrations lots of Brownies took to Brownsea Island for a special weekend of fun and adventure. The Brownies had the time of their lives; sleeping under canvas and eating al fresco. The main activities included natural art, finding a range of materials and making their own collage, a wonderful fairy trail, with magical fairy boxes made especially for the event, and making clay bricks to help build a replica of houses that once stood on Brownsea Island.
By Saturday afternoon the second group of Brownies had arrived and we celebrated together with a party on Horse Field. Robin and Sue Clay were able to join us and appeared to have almost as much fun as the Brownies! For most this was their first experience of Brownsea Island and for most their first experience under canvas and certainly the first having peacocks walking into tents, red squirrels playing around the tents and a deer wandering through the campsite!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the leaders who made this weekend happen, giving up their time to  come over early on the Friday to make sure everything was in place and ready beforehand, those who helped throughout the weekend and to those who stayed until the very end to ensure that all was packed up and that we had left no trace behind. A special thank you must go to Annie Mitchener as Commissioner for Brownsea Island for co-ordinating the event, Lisa Upward as Leader in Charge, thanks also for the brilliant camp fire singing on both evenings, Tracy Crickmore as first aider and not forgetting our County Commissioner, Catherine Welch.

Brownies at Paultons
Another Celebration for the Big Brownie Birthday saw Brownies, Guides and Senior Section take to Paultons park for a fun filled day! Hundreds of girls descended on the (relatively) local theme park to join together and have fun! It was a fantastic day out and lots of fun was had by all! Even if lots of the leaders seemed a bit worn out by the end of it!
